Jerry writes: Is "Ground Zero Mosque"a distortion? No! The present building on the site, 45 Park Place, has been unoccupied since September 11, 2001. Why? Parts of the attacking airliners came through the roof and penetrated through the top 3 floors. The building was condemned. That makes it part of Ground Zero. Although Imam Feisal Rauf insists (in American interviews) that the project is "not a mosque", in foreign interviews he consistently calls it a mosque. Like the Dome of the Rock built on the site of the Jewish Temple, or numerous other mosques built on the ruins of other temples, it is clearly a devious attempt to celebrate a Muslim military conquest. There are dozens of mosques in New York City, more than 100 by some estimates. But at Ground Zero? Sorry, but no.
